There are a lot of Busy people in the church. Being busy does not mean that you are in God’s will. Au contraire – often our busy schedules confuse us into thinking that God is happy with us. Over and over in God’s Word we are told to
“Be still… Wait upon the Lord…Meditate upon your bed…Trust.”
Churches wrongly promote the idea that if you are working hard in the church you are pleasing to God. Nothing can be further from the truth.
It is only what the Holy Spirit leads you to do that is pleasing to God.
“What good is it for a man to gain the whole world but lose his soul.” Mk. 8:36 You gain a lot when you are busy – you gain friends, popularity and a sense of belonging.
I know several pastors who were very busy in their ministry yet their children were sexually promiscuous. When I resigned from pastoring I was able to see how much of my family’s needs I had been unaware of.
If you find yourself overly busy, stop and ask the Holy Spirit if what you are doing is pleasing to Him. Then take a quiet walk and enjoy the presence of the One who Loves you Best – the Lover of Your Soul.
