LONeLINESS and Depression

How do you deal with depression when you are struggling with loneliness?

How do you keep depression at bay when loneliness seems to overwhelm you?

What do you do when you feel that you are alone in the world and there is no one to share your thoughts, dreams and desires?

I too have been there and share from my own personal experiences and of those I have counseled.

The first thing that you need to know is that you are not alone.

Say that with me “I am not alone”.

Each time you are struggling with loneliness say this out loud all day long. You see one of the most powerful attacks that Satan can put on us is to make us believe that we are the only ones who are going through such a difficult time.

I want you to see that there are millions of people out there who are just as lonely as you are.  Say that with me There are millions of  people who are just as lonely as I am”. When I was going through some very difficult, lonely times I found that just by saying this out loud to myself throughout the day I had a greater sense of calm and reassurance.  It was strange, but I felt a connection to all the lonely people out in the world.

I almost felt that I was part of a group of people who had a common bond with me.  It strengthened, empowered and changed me to let me see that though I thought I was alone, I truly wasn’t.  I was – and you are – part of something so much greater.  It is called the Body of Christ.

The next thing you need to know is that if you are a Christian Jesus said that the Holy Spirit would never leave you or forsake you. Here is there for you right now. He loves you, accepts you and understands all that you have been going through.

Say out loud “Holy Spirit I thank you that you never leave me or forsake me. You are with me right now. Help me to trust in your love and your presence.” Say this out loud all day long. You will find a warm affirming assurance of God’s love for you.

“Dear Lord, I pray for my friend. I ask that you wrap your loving arms around them. Let him/her feel your presence enveloping them, surrounding them, filling them. I rebuke the demonic spirit of tormenting loneliness. I speak peace over his/her mind. I ask that you send a friend to whom they can confide in and share their dreams with.  You said that You would never leave us or forsake us.  We stand on this promise and acknowledge that you are right there with my friend right now.”  In Jesus name I pray. amen

Friend, you are very loved by God. Look for God to provide for all your needs.
