Scud Running

It happened again last night.  The clouds were dark and a storm was blowing in. That was when I heard the plane. The pilot was scud running – trying to make it from one place to another and outrun the storm.  A lot of people die scud running. It is extremely dangerous – yet many do it all the time.  Scud running reminds me of some people that I know – willing to risk safety just for the thrill.

I recently met a man who is a homosexual and a Christian – boy does that open up a can of worms.  His struggle has continued for many years. He scud runs from one partner to another.  When we talked I only wanted him to think about one thing – Is he still fighting to do what is right? Is he still seeking the Father and crying out for help?

Another guy I know is also a believer.  He has asked his girlfriend to move in with him.  They don’t sleep together but they are scud running. The bible says “Don’t have sex outside of marriage.” How long will it be before this couple ends up in bed together?  They too are scud running.

There have been many  pastors that wanted to check out pornography “Just so they’ll know how to counsel others.” They are scud running. Everyone  of them now has pornographic thoughts running through their heads.  Several are now addicted to porn.  Some have lost their home, family and ministry and ended up with a venereal disease.

Scud running is dangerous, thrilling and exciting.  Yet it has cost many their lives.  What have you done recently that you know you shouldn’t have? Where have you been scud running? Stop and ask yourself “Is this worth the risk?”

Beware, it not only could cost you your life but your very soul.
